The city of Gainesville will hold a disparity study town hall on Monday, Dec. 16.
The meeting, scheduled to run from 6 to 8 p.m., will allow residents to ask questions, learn about the study and provide feedback to the city. It will be held in the Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) Administrative Building Multipurpose Room located at 301 SE Fourth Ave.
According to a Gainesville press release, “the city partnered with Griffin and Strong, P.C. (GSPC) and “conducted a disparity study to determine whether all qualified firms had the maximum opportunity to compete for and participate in city of Gainesville procurement of prime contracts and subcontracts.
“To achieve these ends, GSPC analyzed the prime contracting and subcontracting activities for the city’s purchases of construction, architecture, engineering, professional services, other services and goods during a five-year study period from 2016 through 2020. “These findings from this study will provide valuable insights into the current state of equity in the city’s procurement processes and will guide future efforts to ensure fair and inclusive opportunities for all qualified firms.”
