The city of Gainesville announced Monday the Lincoln Yard Trail project construction is set to begin this winter.

According to a city of Gainesville press release, the city’s Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs and Wild Spaces & Public Places program are scheduling the new linear park at 2099 SE 8th Ave. on the east side of the Lincoln Estates neighborhood. It will span from SE 10th Place to SE 8th Avenue within the city-owned property.

The park will feature a one-third-mile granite aggregate walking trail, a stormwater pond, a landscaped entrance, decorative fencing and an entryway with a wood rail fence, entrance columns and decorative boulders.

Also planned is a small playground with log seating, swings and other play items. An adult fitness station will include a push up bar, pull up station, incline bench and more.

The project is scheduled to be completed in the summer of 2024 at a cost of $350,000. Joyner Construction Partners, LLC will be the general contractor for the project.
