The Science of Cool: Skate at the Cade

Enjoy a thrilling summer skate at the Cade Museum for Creativity and Invention. Cade Members! Register today to enjoy an exclusive space-themed member preview skating event on Wednesday, July 1st, from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

The Science of Cool

Our synthetic skating rink dovetails with the museum’s summer celebration of cool inventions. Air conditioning, refrigeration, and artificial ice aren’t just modern conveniences, it’s life-changing technology that has enabled cities to grow in places where they couldn’t exist before. Visitors will learn how Florida-based inventors, like John Gorrie and Khanh Din, have played pivotal roles in all things “cool”!

Guests can register to skate during current museum hours, on Friday and Saturday from 12:00 – 4:00 pm (the last skate ends at 4:40). Skating is free with regular admission, and guests can choose from two synthetic ice skating options:

  • Skating with Cade-supplied skates (skates are free with admission) – ages 5+ or
  • Sock skating (limited rink times are designated for sock skating, and guests can wear their own thick socks, or socks available for purchase at the front desk). Younger children, under age 5, are encouraged to sock skate with an adult.
