On Saturday, the UF Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences’ (UF/IFAS) Department of Wildlife Ecology and Conservation will host a snake-focused education and awareness event called Fang Fest.
The event will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Amber Brooke Farms (3250 NE 140th Ave.) in Williston and will run concurrently with the annual Blueberry Festival. Admission is $15 and covers both events.
The inaugural Fang Fest will feature activity tables about snake identification, environmental conservation, coexisting with snakes and identifying myths about snakes. Live snakes will be on hand to view along with preserved snakes for education and a raffle to win prizes.
The event is designed to help people understand a snake’s place in the ecosystem and how to help people live peacefully with snakes in nature. Â
