Both teams gave a solid account in a clash neither deserved to lose, but Green Cove Springs Clay prevailed over Gainesville 28-10 in Florida high school football action on September 15.

Green Cove Springs Clay jumped in front of Gainesville 14-7 to begin the second quarter.

The Blue Devils’ offense jumped in front for a 21-7 lead over the Hurricanes at the intermission.

Gainesville showed its spirit while rallying to within 21-10 in the third quarter.

The Blue Devils put a bow on this victory with a strong final-quarter kick, outpointing the Hurricanes 7-0 in the last stanza.
