Accident stalls I-75 southbound traffic

A pickup truck pulling a trailer and an SUV collided on southbound Interstate 75 Thursday morning near the Gainesville 39th Avenue off ramp.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, the front right tire blew on the pickup truck around 3:20 a.m. and the 47-year-old male driver from Indianapolis lost control, causing the trailer to overturn on its side and collide with a light pole on the west side of I-75. The truck and trailer came to a stop and blocked the middle and right southbound lanes.

An SUV, driven by a Newberry female, 54, did not see the overturned trailer and ran into the underside of the trailer.
