Alachua County Fire Rescue’s EMS personnel will receive help from five new Stryker Power Load systems now installed in critical care trucks.
With the systems, EMS teams can hydraulically lift patients to the right height to move into and out of the care compartments on the vehicles.
The lifts will mitigate both patient and worker safety. Plus, the new equipment will reduce fatigue on EMS workers.
“The equipment will be extremely helpful, especially when it’s only a two-person team getting a patient in and out,” Elizabeth Duenas said in a press release. “It prevents us from suffering back pain every night”.
The system can handle 870 pounds and provide continual weight support until the stretcher’s wheels are already on the ground.
