Gainesville Fire Rescue (GFR) extinguished a Sunday morning blaze that started in a vehicle inside an auto repair shop.
The Gainesville Police Department (GPD) arrived on scene around 3 a.m. at 4401 NW 6th St. and reported heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the building, according to the GFR press release.
GFR responded with 10 emergency vehicles and extinguished the blaze that started to extend to an adjacent structure.
The fire reportedly originated from a vehicle in the back of the structure and then spread to some tires located on the ground, nearby mechanical equipment and a 55-gallon drum of oil inside the building.
According to the release, the building’s owner arrived on scene and said he had recent issues with theft and vandalism and he installed cameras with footage that he will review.
