A 29-year-old Jasper woman died Wednesday morning on Interstate 75 when she made a sudden lane change to avoid another crash and was hit by a tractor-trailer.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, the woman was driving a sedan northbound on I-75 at 2:05 a.m. just north of Gainesville at mile marker 401 in the outside (right) lane just ahead of a tractor-trailer. In an attempt to avoid a separate/previous crash ahead, the sedan driver abruptly turned left and crossed the middle inside lane directly in the path of the tractor-trailer. The tractor-trailer, driven by a 25-year-old man from Minneapolis, Minnesota, struck the left side of the sedan.

Emergency responders declared the sedan driver dead on scene. The tractor-trailer driver was not injured.
