Newberry woman dies in State Road 45 head-on collision

A 29-year-old Newberry woman died Friday evening after her pickup collided with an SUV on State Road 45.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) report, a 45-year-old Newberry woman was driving a Ford SUV south on SR 45 at 7:38 p.m. when she struck the 29-year-old Newberry woman driving a Chevrolet pickup north on SR 45.

Emergency responders transported the pickup driver to UF Health ER where she was pronounced dead. The SUV driver sustained serious injuries.

According to the FHP report, the pickup driver was not wearing a seatbelt and the SUV driver was wearing a seatbelt.
