These students think they own the road and can walk and ride whenever they want to! First one of the year I look forward to more!!
I am a bike commuter and was almost hit by a truck at this exact intersection before. The vehicle blatantly ran a red light. I had to swerve into the gutter in the northbound direction to avoid getting crushed. In a second, this person could have taken my life. I don’t think they even know what happened — they weren’t paying attention.
You bring up the frustration of pedestrians and cyclists who aren’t paying attention, but the fact is that a lot of drivers out there aren’t paying attention either. We all have a right to share the roadway and a responsibility to look out for one another. These cyclists and pedestrians are daughters, sons, brothers, cousins, mothers, fathers, etc — human beings who do not deserve to be killed, any more than a person in a vehicle deserves to be killed while trying to get from A to B. Let’s all do better.
