Suwannee County accident kills Lake City teen

Two teens driving pickups collided in south Suwannee County late Wednesday afternoon leaving one of them dead, according to the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP). 

The accident occurred just after 4 p.m. at the corner of 286th Terrace and 39th Street, which is east of Branford.

According to the FHP report, a 19-year-old male from Lake City was traveling south on 39th Street when he collided with a truck traveling on 286th Terrace in the intersection of the two roadways. The Lake City teen was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the other truck, a 19-year-old male from O’Brien, and his passenger, a 17-year-old male from Branford, were both wearing seatbelts and suffered no injuries. 

FHP did not release the names of any of the teens involved in the crash but said it is still investigating the incident.
