Area gears up with Easter events

Easter is right around the corner, and a mysterious rabbit is making his way around the county, hiding eggs for children to find. 

Multiple area churches and organizations have set up Easter egg hunts or other themed events in the time leading up to the holiday. Here’s a roundup to help you hunt down the event that works for your family.

UF IFAS Family Fishing Days: Easter Egg Hunt 

8 a.m. at 7922 NW 71st Street 

FFS hosts monthly events that provide families the opportunity to fish together in a safe and fun setting in six “catching ponds” on the grounds of Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences. Anglers can expect to catch bream (bluegill, red-ear sunfish, warmouth), largemouth bass, and channel catfish up to 10 lbs. 

Family Fishing Days are free, open to the public, and catch-and-release. 

Volunteers are on hand to help. No need to RSVP for events, unless your group has more than 10 people. 

Egg Hunt at Westside Baptist Church 

10 a.m.-noon at 10000 W. Newberry Road 

There are egg hunts for toddlers, preschool students and elementary students, plus activities for the whole family, including food trucks, bounce houses and music across the property. 

Schedule: 

  • 10 a.m.: Festivities Begin 
  • 10-10:30 a.m.: Preschool Egg Hunt (Rotating Walk-Thru Experience for Preschool + Toddlers) 
  • 11:30 a.m.: Main Egg Hunt (for elementary kids) 

Egg Hunt at First Baptist Church of Gainesville

Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza at O2B Kids 

9 a.m. at 7383 SW 17th Road 

Family fun, carnival games, candy galore and egg hunts await at this event. 

Egg Hunt at Star Martial Arts 

10 a.m. at 500 NW 60th Street 

Meet & take photos with the Easter Bunny, plus enjoy fun surprises and hidden prizes. Spots are limited, and registration is required. Here’s what’s happening: 

Age-Based Egg Hunts: 

  • 10-10:45 a.m.: ages 3-5 
  • 11-11:45 a.m.: ages 6-9 
  • Noon-1 p.m.: ages 10+ 

Wild B Events & Boutique Spring Festival and Easter Egg Hunt 

10 a.m. at 803 SW 19th Avenue, Williston 

Free admission for shoppers to find over 50 vendors, food trucks, a free Easter egg hunt with over 2,000 eggs, a kid activity zone and more. 

Egg-stravaganza at One Love Cafe 

10 a.m. at 4989 NW 40th Place 

Join The Curlings Group, Real Broker LLC for its Easter Eggstravaganza, sponsored by One Love Café. The day of family festivities will include face painting, bounce houses, live music, food and local vendors. 

An egg hunt with over 4,000 eggs will be the main event, with a specially-designated space for children four and under. 

Egg Hunt at Rotary Club of Williston 

11 a.m. at 801 S Main Street, Williston 

Come enjoy a free hot dog, chips, a drink and of course, Easter eggs. 

Rabbits in the Library at Micanopy Branch 

2 p.m. at 706 NE Cholakka Blvd., Dance Hall 

This is an opportunity for children to learn all about rabbits and rabbit care as well as meet new furry friends. Parents can even inquire about applying to adopt one. 

Egg Hunt at University City Church of Christ 

3-5 p.m. at 4626 NW 8th Ave. 

For this community Easter egg hunt, please enter and park in the west parking lot. East parking lot will be blocked off for safety. 

Thursday, April 17 

Magnolia Ridge Easter Egg Hunt 

5 –7:30 p.m. at 6517 39 NW 

In addition to the community egg hunt, there will be a petting zoo, jump house, games, vendors and plenty of goodies. 

Friday, April 18 

Family Good Friday Festival and Easter Egg Hunt 

6 p.m. at 9325 W Newberry Road 

Join Grace at Fort Clarke for a night of family-friendly fun at its annual Family Good Friday Festival. The night kicks off with bounce houses, food trucks, festival games, an egg hunt and more. Later that night there will be an outdoor worship service to remember Jesus’ sacrifice. 

Egg Hunt at Charter Senior Living 

10:30 a.m. at 1001 SW 62nd Boulevard 

Grab your basket and join Fun 4 Gator Kids Playgroup at Charter Senior Living Center for an Easter Egg hunt. This is a free playgroup, but space is limited. 

Saturday, April 19 

Amber Brooke Farms Easter Celebration and Egg Hunt

Spend the day making memories as you pick fresh, juicy blueberries, wander through fields of sunflowers and zinnias, and take home a beautiful handpicked bouquet. Destiny Community Church Easter EGGstravaganza

Inflatables, food, games, activities and an Easter egg hunt with over 50,000 eggs. This completely free event begins at 11 a.m., and the egg hunt begins at noon. 

First Baptist Church of High Springs Egg Hunt

Bring your family, friends, and neighbors for a day of egg hunting, games and community spirit. Snacks will be available, so come hungry and enjoy some delicious food while making memories with your loved ones. 

Grove Shack at Riddling Groves Special Needs Easter Egg Hunt 

Noon at 25025 NE SR 26, Melrose  

The Grove is excited to host its first-ever Easter egg hunt designed for individuals with special needs and their families. Volunteers and “cheerleaders” to come out and support egg hunters are also welcome. Bring your own basket, and register by emailing ariddling87@icloud.com

High Springs BMX Egg Hunt and Race 

2:30 p.m. at 1050 NW 2nd Street, High Springs 

Race Registration/Practice from 2:30 to 4 p.m. Races start at approximately 4 p.m. Egg hunt is for registered racers and siblings. Free one-day memberships for first time riders. 

Melrose Church Easter Egg Hunt

This free, family fun activity has food (hamburgers and hotdogs), games, activities, and prizes all for free. 

Micanopy Easter Egg Hunt 

11 a.m. at 702 NW 3rd Court, Micanopy 

The New Beginnings Christian Worship Center in partnership with the Willie Mae Stokes Community Center is hosting its 9th annual community day in the park, with free food, games, fellowship and more. 

Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Community Easter Egg Hunt & VBS Launch

All ages are welcome to this event, which will feature a variety of activities and experiences for attendees to enjoy. Egg hunt begins at 11 a.m. 

Northwest Baptist Church Easter Eggstravaganza

Join Northwest Baptist Church for a giant Easter egg hunt, candy, bounce houses, cotton candy, face painting, and more at this free family event. 

Orange Heights Baptist Church Hallelujah Saturday and Easter Egg Hunt

This is a free family-friendly event for children of all ages. There will be an Easter egg hunt, games, booths, food and more. 

Pinspiration Gainesville Easter Cookie Workshop

Get ready for a whimsical Easter celebration at this cookie workshop, where you can decorate a dozen mini cookies. This is a beginner-level class and everything you’ll need is provided. No experience is necessary, and the class will run for about 2 hours. Ages 10 and older are welcome but all attendees must purchase a seat. 

Splitz Bowling Easter Egg Scramble 

10 a.m. at 1301 NW 76th Boulevard  

Splitz will have over 1,000 eggs to grab, plus games, food, music hosted by KISS 105.3, bounce houses, raffles and more.

Waldo Flea Market Kidsfest & Easter Egg Hunt

Gates open at 9 a.m. for this free egg hunt with 10,000 eggs. Come early for egg hunts, bring a basket, and try other activities like photos with the Easter bunny, ride a camel, bounce house, petting zoo, face painting and more. Proceeds go to Fifty Leggs and other local charities.

Sunday, April 20 

Blackadder Brewing Company: Pints, Peeps & Pancakes

This event includes “Risen Pancakes” prepared by Chef Hart, and the egg-clusive tapping of KRP v420, a unique Saison infused with hemp. Bring the kids (and kids at heart) to meet the Easter Bunny, and enjoy Easter-themed activities including an egg and spoon race (for prizes). 

Depot Village Easter Egg Hunt & Potluck 

4:15 p.m. at 404 SE 2nd Street 

The bar will be open with beer, kombucha, wine, and infused drinks available. Kids Easter Egg Hunt begins at 5 p.m., and the Adult Easter Egg Hunt starts at 7:10 p.m. Enjoy live music by Tasana & GRAS, bring a dish to share for the potluck, and be sure to label it (vegan, vegetarian, meat, or gluten-free) so everyone can enjoy. 

Easter Brunch 2025

Join us for a delicious Easter Brunch at Sweetwater Branch Inn, filled with delicious food, drinks and festive fun for the whole family. 

Easter Celebration & Egg Hunt 

9:30 a.m. 4000 NW 53rd Avenue 

Join Trinity United Methodist Church outside after the 9:30 a.m. or 11 a.m. services for an Easter celebration. Gather in the Memorial Garden to go over instructions, then start the egg hunt. The egg hunts will happen at approximately 10:30 a.m. and noon. 

Flip Factory Zone Easter Special & Egg Hunt 

11 a.m. at 7400 W Newberry Road 

This full-park Easter egg hunt is for all guests with active wristbands. The hunt is restricted to certain areas of the park and limited by the rules of those areas. $10 entry for jump contest. Further restrictions may apply. 

Greenhouse Church Easter Services & Egg Hunt 

6:30 p.m. at 333 Newell Drive 

Festivities start at 6:30 p.m., including food, an Easter egg hunt, BZ’s Gelati, prizes, and more. Service starts at 7 p.m. 

Homestead Park: Easter Egg Hunt & Brunch 

11 p.m. 1050 NE 6th Boulevard, Williston 

Join this Easter Sunday brunch for mimosas, coffee and an egg hunt! Brunch by Brynn’s Bytes from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Egg hunt starts at noon sharp (free for kids). 

Servants of Christ Anglican Church Easter Service & Egg Hunt 

9:30 a.m. at 3530 NW 8th Avenue 

Bring a bell from home to celebrate Jesus’ resurrection. Afterward, there will be an egg hunt for the kids.
