The 2025-26 U.S. News & World Report “Best Hospitals” report, released Tuesday, ranked seven UF Health Shands Hospital medical specialties among the country’s best.
The specialties recognized by U.S. News in the report are cancer (No. 39); geriatrics (No. 43); ear, nose and throat (No. 47); obstetrics and gynecology (No. 26); neurology and neurosurgery (No. 39); urology (No. 30); and pulmonology and lung surgery (No. 40), its 16th consecutive year ranked among the nation’s best.
The U.S. News annually evaluates nearly 6,000 hospitals, adhering to a stringent eligibility process that considers factors like patient volume, complexity of care and the level of care a hospital can offer.

UF Health Shands’ adult specialties that ranked in the top 10% nationally, which are classified as “high performing,” include cardiology, heart and vascular surgery, diabetes and endocrinology, orthopedics, and gastrointestinal and gastrointestinal surgery.
UF Health Shands is also “high performing” in 19 adult procedures and treated conditions. Those are aortic valve surgery; spinal fusion; chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD; colon cancer surgery; diabetes; gynecological cancer surgery; heart arrhythmia; heart attack; heart failure; hip fracture; hip replacement; kidney failure; knee replacement; leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma; lung cancer surgery; pneumonia; prostate cancer surgery; stroke; and transcatheter aortic valve replacement.
