Gainesville’s Fire Neural Network won $1 million from the 2025 Verizon x MIT Solve Disaster Resilience Prize, granting funds to deploy high-tech solutions for disasters.
Fire Neural Network, housed in the Innovation District, finished first out of more than 200 companies who applied for the prize. The award ceremony happened on Friday in Sacramento, California.
According to a press release, the company produces real-time weather stations that deliver second-by-second alerts. The station tracks lightning strikes and spots lightning-sparked wildfires.
