Firefighters battled a 2-acre brush fire that broke out behind the parking garages at Celebration Pointe in Gainesville on Thursday evening.
According to an Alachua County Fire Rescue (ACFR) release, crews from ACFR and the Gainesville Fire Rescue responded just after 8 p.m. to find the blaze in the woods behind the parking garages.
Crews, with assistance from the Florida Department of Forestry, used brush trucks and chainsaws to gain access and extinguish the fire.
ACFR reminds county residents that there is currently a burn ban that is in effect due to an ongoing drought that is affecting North Central Florida.
