Last week, a pair of seniors from The Rock School boys basketball national team signed to play at the next level.

Small forward/power forward Cordarius White (6’7, 205), who is from Gainesville, signed with Fort Valley State University (Georgia), while Isaac Layow, who hails from Jacksonville, signed with Hampden-Sydney College (Virginia). 

Last year, White and his brother, Cornelius, helped lead Gainesville High School to the FHSAA Class 5A-District 2 title.

White, a second-team All Area selection last year while at GHS, led the Lions in rebounding at 7.9 rebounds per game.

“Darius was a great addition to our program this year,” said Justin Harden, former head coach of The Rock basketball National Team. “He had a very diverse skill set as he was able to shoot, dribble and rebound effectively for his size.”

The duo helped lead The Rock School, a member of the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association (SIAA), to a 24-10 record and state runner-up finish in the SIAA.

Layow, who played shooting guard and small forward, is 6’6, 190.
