The Matheson History Museum will host its inaugural history camps to be held in July.
The two camps are for children ages 8-12 and the cost is $250 for each camp. Campers are asked to bring a daily packed lunch and snacks will be provided. Click here to register.
The first session is entitled “Expedition: Florida!” and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday, July 20-24. Traverse Florida’s rugged past with fun, hands-on learning in archaeology, ecology, and culture. Meet Florida’s innovative Native peoples and brave Gainesville pioneers.
The second session is entitled “Florida Tim Travelers” and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday, July 27-31. Hop in the time machine and see your state with new eyes. Hands-on educational crafts and activities will take you back to the creatures of Florida’s prehistoric past, through Indigenous and American history, up to today.
