
The Matheson History Museum will host its inaugural history camps to be held in July.
The two camps are for children ages 8-12 and the cost is $250 for each camp. Campers are asked to bring a daily packed lunch and snacks will be provided. Click here to register.
The first session is entitled “Expedition: Florida!” and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday, July 20-24. Traverse Florida’s rugged past with fun, hands-on learning in archaeology, ecology, and culture. Meet Florida’s innovative Native peoples and brave Gainesville pioneers.
The second session is entitled “Florida Tim Travelers” and will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday, July 27-31. Hop in the time machine and see your state with new eyes. Hands-on educational crafts and activities will take you back to the creatures of Florida’s prehistoric past, through Indigenous and American history, up to today. Find out how we know what we know about the past through Florida’s fascinating archaeology.
