The American Heart Association Heart Walk, through a grant provided by the HCA Foundation, donated 12 CPR training kits to Alachua County Public Schools to expand hands-on CPR education for students throughout the district.

The kits will help equip students with the knowledge and confidence to respond during cardiac emergencies and provide potentially life-saving assistance until professional help arrives.

Students participating in Hidden Oak Elementary School’s EDEP Summer Camp were among the first in the district to receive instruction using the newly donated kits on Tuesday afternoon. Several University of Florida student-athletes will join the training activities, helping encourage and inspire participants as they learn this critical skill.

“Teaching young people CPR empowers them to act confidently in emergency situations and can make a meaningful difference when every second counts,” organizers said in a press release. “By working together, we are helping create safer schools and stronger communities.”
