Gainesville Police Department (GPD) officers are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Thursday night in the 100 block of SE 16th Avenue.

According to a GPD release, officers responded to a reported shooting at approximately 8:20 p.m. and found a victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim later died from the injury.

The investigation remains active and additional information will be released as it becomes available.
