The city of Gainesville’s Cultural Affairs Division is reviving its Meet the Author and Lecture Series, bringing local, regional and national authors, scholars and historians to the A. Quinn Jones Museum & Cultural Center through May 2027.
The series will return at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17, with an appearance by award-winning Florida author Kevin Powers, who will present his novel, “Children of the Wind.”
The program will be held at the A. Quinn Jones Museum & Cultural Center (1013 NW 7th Ave., Gainesville). Programs will take place on the third Thursday of each month and are free and open to the public.
Throughout the series, presenters will share their work through readings, book signings, lectures and discussions with attendees. Topics will include Florida history, Southern culture, literature, folk art, education and other humanities subjects.
The monthly programs are designed to provide opportunities for youth, adults and seniors to engage with authors, explore new perspectives and celebrate Florida’s literary and cultural heritage.
The Meet the Author and Lecture Series was last presented in 2021.
