Partnership for Strong Families (PSF), through its Tri-County Community Resource Center, will host the 2026 “Tri-County World’s Greatest Baby Shower” on Friday, Sept. 18, at the Community Building on the Haven campus in Chiefland.
The free event will run from 10 a.m. to noon at 311 NE 9th St. and is open to expectant parents and families with children younger than 1 who live in Dixie, Gilchrist or Levy counties, according to a PSF release.
“It is our honor to get to know and support families with young children,” said Ginger Griffeth, PSF president and CEO, in the release. “For the past eight years, the community has shown incredible support for new families through this event.”
The annual event began in 2018 and has grown steadily. Last year, more than 150 expectant and new parents attended, 45 organizations provided information and infant supplies, and sponsors and donors helped provide prizes valued at more than $3,000.
This year’s event will feature pregnancy and parenting resources, refreshments, games, activities and free giveaways at exhibitor tables. Families who arrive by 11 a.m. will be eligible for essential door prizes, including jumbo boxes of diapers, full-size cribs and stroller systems.
The event will also include games and prizes for new fathers, light snacks and a festive baby shower atmosphere. Chiefland City Commissioner Lawanda Griffin Jones will provide a handcrafted balloon arch, and Sugar Queen Sweets will provide a decorated baby shower cookie for each attendee.
“When a community rallies around new families this early, everyone benefits down the road,” said Beverly Goodman, Tri-County Community Resource Center manager, in the release. “Every diaper, car seat and conversation at this event is really an investment in a child’s safety and a family’s stability.”
Event partners are the Florida Department of Health and Healthy Start of North Central Florida. Sponsors are Florida Blue, Palms Medical Group and Meridian Healthcare.
