
- Gainesville Police arrested Christian Howard, charging him with homicide-murder and robbery related to the Sept. 10 shooting on SE 16th Avenue.
- Carey Showers Jr. was also charged with homicide and was wounded by gunshot when arrested; he is currently receiving medical treatment.
Gainesville Police Department SWAT officers and detectives served a search warrant Tuesday as part of the ongoing investigation into a homicide that occurred Sept. 10 in the 100 block of SE 16th Avenue.
According to a GPD release sent Wednesday, the warrant was part of an effort to locate18-year-old Christian Howard. Howard was not at the residence, but the Florida Highway Patrol later found him during a traffic stop and took him into custody.


Howard was transported to the Alachua County Jail and charged with homicide-murder while engaged in robbery, robbery with a firearm and possession of a weapon or ammunition by a Florida delinquent.
Carey Showers Jr., 18, was arrested Friday and has also been charged with homicide in connection with the case. Showers was suffering from a gunshot wound at the time of his arrest and is receiving medical treatment.
