Ag job fair goes super regional

Jobs working in the beef, peanut, watermelon and equestrian industries are at the top of the list of agricultural positions being advertised for the upcoming agricultural job fair on July 28.

For the first time, a super regional event involving CareerSource branches in Alachua, Citrus, Levy and Marion counties will be held both in-person and virtually.

Catherine Galica, business development manager for CareerSource Citrus Levy Marion, said the organization will hold in-person events simultaneously from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the World Equestrian Center in Ocala (1390 Northwest 80th Avenue) and at the Alachua Agricultural and Equestrian Center in Newberry (23100 W. Newberry Road).

Organizers are asking candidates to wear face masks in the Ocala location and to follow Alachua County COVID-19 rules in Newberry.

Galica said this is the first event of its kind in combining effort with the Gainesville-based CareerSource.

“It will be a super-regional event,” she said.
