Breaking News: District postpones water permit to add Nestle

The Suwannee River Water Management District voted on August 11th to table the vote on a permit that would allow the Seven Springs Water Company to sell water to Nestle bottling company.

SRWMD Vice Chair Donald Quincey made the motion to table the permit approval as board members agreed that Nestlé Waters North America (NWNA) should be added to the permit so that the recipient of the water would need to be held responsible to the permit rules.

The motion was seconded by Board Member Virginia Sanchez and the board voted 5 to 1 in favor of postponing a decision until Nestle is added to the permit that currently allows .98 million gallons of water to be pumped daily from Ginnie Springs.

The dissenting vote came from Board Treasurer Richard Schwab.

NWNA acquired the bottling facility in High Springs in 2019.
