The new, innovative concept City Food Hall will be opening at a space in The Standard in February of 2024.
The Standard is located off at 1360 W. University Avenue across from the University of Florida and is a luxury student housing complex.
The new concept will be owned by local entrepreneurs and former franchisees of Maple Street Biscuit Company, Jason and Edwina Hurst.
“We are thrilled to bring the innovative concept of City Food Hall to Gainesville,” Jason Hurst said. “The vision of City Food Hall is to create a vibrant hub where food enthusiasts can explore a myriad of culinary delights in a dynamic communal and experiential setting. With a focus on quality, diversity, and a celebration of flavors, we aim to provide an unparalleled dining experience for our patrons.”
City Food Hall, a concept pioneered by Miami-based Mercado Food Group, is a 14,000-square-foot facility that offers a diverse array of culinary options under one roof.
Drawing inspiration from global flavors and local delicacies, the food hall will offer an eclectic fusion of tastes, ranging from artisanal sandwiches and gourmet burgers to international cuisines.
The location will also feature a full-service bar, communal seating and Top Golf Swing Suites.
City Food Hall is looking for both veteran and up-and-coming chefs who would want to be a vendor. To apply, visit the website.
13th/University! Where are you going to park? Sounds like mall foodcourt.
I recently moved from Connecticut, and there is a similar concept in Hartford. It has been a huge success. Live music — outdoors in good weather — and everyone can choose their own favorite cuisine! I look forward to this.
