DQ Grill & Chill opened a new restaurant in Alachua on Wednesday.

The longtime American restaurant chain of 83 years opened its doors at 15993 NW 163rd Lane under the ownership of Wanda Davis and Toks Achebe. The store hours are 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Davis and Achebe own and operate Crossroads Portfolio Inc., a restaurant operational group that is local to Georgia. The two previously opened Captain Ds Seafood restaurant and this is their first Dairy Queen location.

“We’re thrilled to be expanding our restaurant ownership portfolio, especially with an iconic American brand like Dairy Queen,” said Davis in a press release. “The support we’ve received from Dairy Queen so far has been outstanding, and we’re excited to open our doors to serve the Alachua community. We hope to make a lasting impact not only through connecting with the community members themselves, but creating new jobs that will benefit families across Alachua.”

The new DQ Grill & Chill concept strikes the perfect balance between yesterday and today with a modernized guest dining experience. The restaurant will offer made-to-order lunch and dinner options including Signature Stackburgers®, Chicken Strip Baskets and world-famous, soft-serve favorites such as cones, sundaes and the iconic Blizzard® Treat.
