Golden Grants: North Florida McDonald’s Operators awarding $15,000 to benefit teachers and students

Educators and individuals who represent programs and organizations that fuel the imagination, education and growth of students can apply for a North Florida Golden Grant. This is the first year for the North Florida Golden Grants program and is funded by the local McDonald’s Owner/Operators. The program will award $15,000 in grants to various teachers and organizations to positively impact the lives of thousands of students.

“We appreciate our teachers and community organizations for all that they do for our youth,” said Calvin Paris, a McDonald’s franchisee in Gainesville. “This grant is another way for us, as local McDonald’s owners, to say thank you. We love supporting our educators throughout the year with various efforts including Teacher Tuesdays and McTeacher Nights. While this is the first, local Golden Grants, it certainly won’t be our last acts of kindness for teachers.”

This year, four Golden Grants will be awarded based on creativity, innovation, need and hands-on application of projects:

  • Two – $5,000 grants
  • Two – $2,500 grants

Activities that qualify for a Golden Grant include arts and crafts programs, education initiatives, mentorship and empowerment programs, after-school programs, community service outreach, sporting programs, technology and COVID-19 relief efforts. Activities and programs must be executed by May 31, 2021 in one of the 26 Greater North Florida/South Georgia counties listed on www.GoldenGrantsFL.com

“We are very appreciative of all the hard work our teachers and community leaders have done for our students. The Golden Grants program is a great opportunity to support educators that impact our next great leaders,” says Will Garcia, president of the North Florida Business Unit. “Our youth are vital to the pulse of our communities and we recognize the importance of supporting education in our neighborhoods.”

Eligible teachers and organizations are invited to submit an application at www.goldengrantsfl.com. The deadline to enter is Nov. 29th, 2020 and grant recipients will be announced in January 2021.
