J.C. Derrick appointed Mainstreet Daily News publisher

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (January 25, 2021) After a nationwide search, veteran journalist and former Capitol Hill beat reporter J.C. Derrick has been appointed publisher of Mainstreet Daily News, a growing online publication dedicated to fostering a strong sense of community in the markets it serves. Mainstreet Daily News is headquartered in Gainesville, Florida.

In just eight years Derrick rose through the ranks from reporter to managing editor then deputy chief content editor at WORLD News Group, a national news media organization. There he increased staff productivity and spearheaded impressive online growth with effective, collaborative marketing partnerships.

Before that, he worked as a reporter for 10 years at the Longview News-Journal in Texas. His roots are in Texas where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from the University of Texas at Arlington, and an Associate in Arts communications degree from Kilgore College.
