PrimoHoagies announces Gainesville location

PrimoHoagies plans to open a new store in Gainesville in 2022.

Established in South Philadelphia in 1992, the restaurant known for its gourmet hoagies with meats and cheeses piled high, announced Monday that it has signed 18 new franchise agreements to open locations across four states: Colorado, Florida, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

“For Gainesville, the projected opening is in early 2022,” said Katie Kring-Schreifels, with Power Brands Communications, which sent the announcement. “We are currently doing site tours and have a few locations in mind.”

Kring Schreifels added the Gainesville store is expected to employ between 15 and 20 people.

The expansion comes after the company had its most successful year in 2020 and has experienced 21 percent sales growth so far in 2021. The latest openings will also bring PrimoHoagies to the Western U.S., adding to the company’s footprint of successful franchises currently operating in seven other states (Pennsylvania, Delaware, Florida, Maryland, New Jersey, North Carolina, and South Carolina).

“PrimoHoagies is headed across the country,” CEO Nicholas Papanier Jr. said in a press release. “They say that ‘tough times reveal your true character’ and that’s certainly been true for PrimoHoagies and our dedicated franchisees throughout the pandemic. By doubling down on our aggressive growth plan, we’ve been able to thrive through hard circumstances.”

The company plans to open two other Florida stores in Tampa and The Villages.

With most of these openings slated for 2022, PrimoHoagies will soon surpass the milestone of 100 franchise locations.
