After over 19 years in business, Sweet Dreams of Gainesville will be closing its doors on Saturday, Dec. 30.
Sweet Dreams of Gainesville announced on Facebook that the popular ice cream shop will be hosting its last “flavor night.”
The news comes after several other local businesses have announced closures such as Halo Potato Doughnut and Swamp Boil. La Fiesta also announced it was closing but has since decided to stay open.
“After raising prices, we saw a drop in business. Not to mention the debt I now carry from Covid. Mom and pop local places like ours struggle more than the corporate stores everyone seems to continue to support,” Mike Manfredi, the owner of Sweet Dreams, said on Facebook.
The ice cream shop relocated in the summer of 2022 and expanded its menu.
The last flavor night will be serving some of Sweet Dream’s most popular flavors through the years.
It’s sad to see yet another small family owned business have to close it’s doors. Misguided COVID policies and the effects of Democrats running the local and national government keep taking their toll…
Be careful with finger pointing. ‘certain’ groups really hate to have it pointed out that when they were told something would end badly, it actually does.
Last time I checked Trump was president during Covid.

It sounds like it might have been a nice place, but with the name I would never guess what kind of store it was. Only been here 26 years, but I don’t remember ever hearing the name to even guess wrong at what it was. I’d have thought it was a mattress store.
I’m so sad to hear this news! My husband and I discovered the creative little store next to the book store soon after we first moved to Gainesville 20 years ago. We heard from Mike himself as he served us how he and his wife decided to start the business. The locally owned book store next door, where we had a regular meeting, is gone now, too.
That’s a good point. Local shops must put their product on the sign, or in their biz name. Gville gets a huge turnover in new residents every year, potential customers need to know. There used to be another ice cream shop across from GHS named “Indigo”? It closed too.

Another casualty of the City of GNV raising commercial electric rates to the highest in the entire state!
Sad that this place has to close. Restaurants rarely go out of business……
