According to a UF Health press release sent on Tuesday, UF Health Shands Hospital, UF Health Jacksonville, UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital and UF Health Leesburg Hospital were all recognized.
Healthgrades, the top site Americans use when searching for a doctor or hospital, evaluates risk-adjusted mortality and complication rates for more than 30 procedures and common conditions across nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide.
UF Health Shands Hospital and UF Health Jacksonville both earned a spot on the top 250 hospitals in America list. The two hospitals were also recognized as among the country’s top 100 hospitals for critical care.
UF Health Shands was lauded for excellence in outpatient joint replacement, outpatient orthopaedic surgery and stroke care, while UF Health Jacksonville was acknowledged as a top 100 hospital for prostate surgery.
“We are incredibly proud of the work we’ve done to be so well-represented in these rankings,” said Michael Holmes, senior vice president and regional president of the UF Health Greater Gainesville market, said in the press release. “Patient care is at the heart of everything we do. To see that reflected is a point of pride, and one that speaks to the hard work of our teams.”
UF Health Spanish Plaines Hospital in The Villages received a Patient Safety Excellence Award — a designation that places it among the top 10% of hospitals nationally for patient safety — and was named one of the top 100 best hospitals for orthopaedic surgery and prostate surgery. The award recognizes hospitals that excel at providing top-quality care while preventing serious safety events during hospital stays.
UF Health Leesburg Hospital was named to the list of the top 100 best hospitals for orthopaedic surgery.
