Our team has been hard at work this week to keep you up to date on the hurricane-related happenings in North Central Florida.  

From school closures to shelter openings and a moved UF-Eastern Washington football game, Hurricane Ian has shuffled a lot of plans this week. That includes our operations here at Mainstreet Daily News.  

To get ahead of the storm, you may have noticed our circulation team delivered the paper to homes and businesses early.

You also may have noticed something else: missing blue boxes around town. Late Monday, when it appeared the storm could make landfall along the Nature Coast and potentially deal a heavy blow to Gainesville, we decided to pick up our print edition boxes as a safety precaution. That means there will be fewer places to pick up the newspaper this week only.
