Fourth Alachua County longterm care facility appears on State COVID-19 report

On April 27th, a fourth long-term care facility in Alachua County appeared on the State positive report released daily by the Florida Department of Health.

Palm Garden Nursing Home of Gainesville joins Oak Hammock at the University of Florida, Parklands Care Center, and Signature Healthcare of Gainesville on the list, which is now updated with specific case counts.

According to the report, Palm Garden had one resident who tested positive for COVID-19, and was transferred to a hospital. Signature Health Care also reports one resident who tested positive and was transferred to a hospital.

Oak Hammock at the University of Florida has three residents that tested positive, three residents that tested positive and were transferred to a hospital, and six members of its staff who tested positive.

Parklands Care Center was by far the worst hit of the four facilities on the list from Alachua County. Its report showed 12 residents that tested positive, nine that tested positive and were transferred to hospitals, and nine staff members that also tested positive.

According to the FDOH, there have been 397 long-term care facilities in Florida associated with positive cases of COVID-19.

319 individuals that were staff or residents of a long-term care facility have died.
