A 31-year-old male died from a gunshot wound after allegedly breaking into a Lake City home off SW Leslie Glen on Tuesday night.
According to a Lake City Police Department (LCPD) release, officers were dispatched to a residence on SW Leslie Glen at 11:06 p.m. to the report of an individual shot.
When officers arrived, they found a 31-year-old male unresponsive from a gunshot wound. Officers administered first aid until EMS personnel arrived, but the man died from his injuries.
The investigation found that the victims of the home invasion reported that the intruder, known to the victims, broke into the home containing multiple adults and children. One of the adults fired multiple shots at the intruder when he reportedly rushed toward them.
