An 11-year-old boy was arrested Saturday after allegedly threatening two other juveniles with a handgun during an armed disturbance in southeast Gainesville.

According to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) release, during the early morning hours of Saturday, ACSO deputy Brandon Dolan responded to a residence in the 1100 block of SE 41st Drive regarding a report of an armed disturbance.

Upon arrival, Dolan spoke with two juvenile victims, who said they were inside a bedroom when they noticed the suspect, whom they knew, outside on a nearby playground.

According to the victims, an argument began between them and the 11-year-old suspect after he saw them. The suspect then allegedly took a black semiautomatic handgun from another person on the playground and approached the victims’ bedroom window.

The suspect allegedly knocked on the window with the handgun and threatened to shoot the victims.

The victims yelled that someone outside had a gun, prompting a guardian to go outside to investigate. The guardian reportedly saw the suspect holding the handgun and contacted law enforcement.

The suspect and the person from whom he allegedly took the handgun left the area before deputies arrived.

Deputies later made contact with the suspect at his residence and confirmed he was the juvenile who allegedly threatened the victims.

The suspect was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon without intent to kill. He was transported to the Alachua County Juvenile Detention Center.
