An Alachua County grand jury indicted three men for the April 21, 2017, murder of Christin Cassels.
According to an Eighth Judicial Circuit press release, Blake Jackson, 28, Keneth Altidor, 42, and Nikenson Perin, 36, returned a true bill indicting the three for the first-degree murder of Cassels and burglary while armed with a dangerous weapon.
The incident occurred on April 21, 2017, when Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ASCO) deputies responded to the area of 78150 SE US Highway 301 in Hawthorne in reference to a shooting. Deputies discovered Cassels suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency responders pronounced Cassels dead and ACSO detectives conducted an investigation on cellular devices and Google data that eventually led to Jackson, Altidor and Perin being identified as suspects involved in the death seven years later.
Altidor was arrested on July 15, 2024, in Fort Lauderdale and Jackson was arrested on July 16, 2024, in Hallandale Beach in Hollywood.
Perin is in a federal prison in Seattle, Washington, and is awaiting extradition to Alachua County. Altidor and Jackson are currently in the Alachua County Jail.
