The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) on Monday arrested Andre Bleau, 18, the second person charged in a Dec. 9 fatal shooting at the Crossings at Santa Fe.

The ACSO said in a Wednesday press release that Bleau along with Cameron Gibbs, 18, and Jacoby Edwards, 18, went to the Crossings at Santa Fe with the intent of committing armed robbery.

Edwards knew the intended victim and acted like he wanted to buy marijuana from him. The victim initially let Edwards into the apartment. Then, Gibbs and Bleau rushed in with a handgun and ordered the victim to the ground. During the robbery, ACSO said the victim got a handgun and shot Gibbs.

The victim also shot at Bleau, grazing him. Bleau and Edwards then fled the apartment, leaving the injured Gibbs in the doorway.

Law enforcement arrived and administered first aid to Gibbs. He was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

The Criminal Investigations Division worked to identify the people involved and collect evidence. ACSO issued arrest warrants for Edwards and Bleau, charging them with armed home invasion robbery, homicide and criminal conspiracy because their acts led to Gibbs’ death.

Edwards turned himself into ACSO on Dec. 11, and Bleau was arrested Monday at the Harbor Cove Apartments.
