
The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) bomb squad destroyed a device that looked like several sticks of dynamite bundled together with a timer attached, which was found off Poe Springs Road in High Springs on Sunday afternoon.
According to an ACSO release, a call was made Sunday afternoon when a suspicious device was discovered on a property in the 27500 block of NW 182nd Avenue (Poe Springs Road). ACSO deputies and the bomb squad responded to the scene and the road was closed and nearby residences evacuated.
The bomb squad inspected and secured the device and discovered it was a hoax. The team destroyed the device, and the road was reopened around 8:24 p.m.
