The Eighth Judicial Circuit settled two criminal cases on Friday, one a 2022 murder and the other a firearm conviction by a felon.

An Alachua County jury found Lacorrin Raheem Calhoun, 22, guilty of the 2022 murder of Jaquan Robinson, 22, in the city of Alachua. He was also found guilty of robbery armed with a firearm causing death.

The investigation found that Calhoun shot and killed Robinson after trying to rob him of narcotics. The case ended after a week-long trial, and a sentencing hearing is scheduled for March 11.

In a separate case, Kelvin James Allen, 20, was found guilty of possession of a firearm, ammunition or electric weapon by a convicted felon. Judge David P. Kreider sentenced him to 15 years in the Florida Department of Corrections.

According to the press release, Alachua County Sheriff’s Office deputies were investigating a shooting incident from Jan. 30, 2025. Information on Allen’s Instagram account showed illegal weapons and led to a search warrant and then his arrest.
