Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) deputies are asking the public for assistance in identifying a male suspect who robbed the Chevron gas station at knifepoint in Hawthorne on Sunday night.
According to an ACSO release, the incident occurred after 10 p.m. when an unknown male entered the Chevron located at 7435 US SE Highway 301. The suspect was dressed in all black, wearing a mask and gray gloves.
During the robbery, the suspect jumped over the counter and physically assaulted the store employee, threatened the victim with a knife and stole a large amount of cash from the register before fleeing north.
Detectives believe the incident is not related to the armed robbery that occurred at the Circle K at 4310 Hawthorne Road on May 10.
