The Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) is asking for the public to help find burglars who struck Big Daddy Guns early Thursday morning.
In a video posted to Facebook, ACSO Captain Chris Sims said the incident occurred at Big Daddy Guns (7600 NW Fifth Place) just before 3:30 a.m. Thursday morning, when a burglary alarm sounded.
“The first deputy was on the scene within three to four minutes and immediately noticed a window had been shattered,” Sims said in the video.
Sims said two individuals worked together to steal “multiple firearms,” but so far investigators had no identifying information. He said the ACSO was utilizing forensics, K-9 and air units at the scene, plus assistance from federal partners, Gainesville Fire Rescue and the Gainesville Police Department.
“What we’re asking is that you check any of your cameras if you live anywhere in the surrounding around of 7600 NW Fifth Place,” Sims said. “If you live anywhere in this vicinity on Tower Road, check your ring cameras, check your business cameras, and if you see anything, you can utilize Crime Stoppers, you can utilize the sheriff’s office website, you can message us here on Facebook, on social media, and we’ll get that information over to our detectives.”
On Friday, ACSO spokesman Art Forgey told Mainstreet Daily News that the suspects are still at large, but investigators are following leads.
“They are forging forward, continuing to work it,” Forgey said.
Big Daddy claimed “high security”. Does this mean there are no photos or descriptions of the thieves?
A classic example of why the proliferation of assault weapons and handguns endangers our children and society. It easy for anyone to fence a gun, and the NRA is America’s ISIS, enabler of mass terrorism and death.
