Gilchrist County Sheriff’s deputies arrest Bell man in shooting

Gilchrist County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Bell man who shot a victim multiple times on Wednesday.

According to a Gilchrist County Sheriff’s Office (GCSO) release, deputies responded around 8:50 a.m. to the 20th block of NW 30th Street in Bell in reference to a shooting.

When they arrived, deputies found an individual who had been shot multiple times. Emergency responders transported the victim to a local hospital where the individual is in critical condition.

Deputies identified the suspect in the shooting as Stuart Robert Skrabec, 40, of Bell. Skrabec was arrested on scene and charged with attempted homicide and aggravated battery.

The shooting was reportedly over a property dispute. The investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Gilchrist County Sheriff Bobby Shultz sends his thoughts and prayers to the victim and their family and is praying for a complete and quick recovery. Shultz also acknowledged and appreciated the professionalism exhibited by members of the GCSO and Gilchrist County Fire Rescue.
