
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) released the name of the person shot and killed Sunday at a Chevron gas station off I-10.
On Tuesday in a CCSO release, the victim was identified as 47-year-old Kendrick Jerry of Lake City.
The incident occurred around 1 p.m. on Sunday when CCSO deputies responded to a shooting at the Chevron gas station located at US Highway 441 next to I-10. Deputies located Jerry lying outside the Chevron station’s front door.
Emergency responders rendered aid to Jerry, but he was pronounced dead on scene.
According to the release, “Jerry and another male were involved in an altercation in the store parking lot.”
Detectives have identified all parties involved in Sunday’s incident and are continuing to gather information about the altercation.
“It is tragic to lose any member of our community,” Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter said in a statement. “We will work diligently to verify all facts in this case and provide answers to the Jerry family.”
