A Chiefland man was arrested on alleged sexual battery charges involving a 13-year-old victim.

According to a Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) release, detectives took John H. Jordan, 60, into custody on Friday and charged him with two counts of lewd and lascivious battery and two counts of lewd and lascivious molestation. He is being held on a $1.3 million bond in the Levy County Detention Facility.

The investigation started on May 2 when the LCSO received allegations of sexual misconduct that occurred between a 13-year-old victim and Jordan. LCSO detectives, in cooperation with the Florida Department of Children and Family Services Child Protection Team, found evidence of multiple sexual encounters that the teenager and Jordan had started in December 2022.

LCSO detectives confronted Jordan at his home on Friday and obtained his statement. Jordan’s statements corroborated details detectives obtained from the victim and witnesses and Jordan was taken into custody.

Detectives executed a search warrant at Jordan’s home and collected multiple items – including electronic devices – that will be forensically examined for DNA by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s (FDLE) forensic laboratory.

Anyone with information on the ongoing investigation is asked to contact LCSO detective Ryan Sullivan at 352-486-5111 ext. 360. Anonymous tips can be made at Crime Stoppers at 877-349-8477.
