The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) announced a three-day drug interdiction operation that yielded three arrests, $20,000 in cash and drugs worth some $1 million.

The interdiction occurred as part of a training CCSO deputies received from members of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia.

“Lowndes County has long been recognized for their elite interdiction teams,” a CCSO press release said.

Deputies from Lowndes County and the CCSO paired up for the interdiction operations, which took place mostly on I-75 and I-10 on May 28 through May 30.

One of the stops alone netted over 30 kilograms of cocaine, which has a street value of almost $1 million.

“I want to thank our partners from Lowndes County for offering their time to help our deputies sharpen their skills,” Columbia County Sheriff Mark Hunter said in a statement. “We have many talented deputies here, but we are always taking advantage of advanced training opportunities. Staying on top of current trends is an essential and continuing part of what we do. Our strong relationships with other agencies is what allows us the ability to partner with them for this type of training.”
