A male victim who was shot at an Exxon gas station on East University Avenue on Wednesday evening is refusing to press charges.

According to an Alachua County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) release sent Wednesday night, deputies responded to 4221 E. University Ave. to the report of a male subject who was shot.

The business and associated parking lot were closed as ACSO detectives investigated the incident.

“The victim is being uncooperative and doesn’t want to file charges,” ACSO spokesperson Lisa Sacaccio told Mainstreet Daily News. “However, detectives are still investigating the case because the circumstances of the shooting created a significant danger to others in the vicinity. Because of this, we will not be releasing any further details about the incident at this time.”
