At a Tuesday press conference Gilchrist County Sheriff Bobby Schultz estimated some 20,000 people were at Ginnie Springs for Memorial Day weekend. Officials said many people had come forward with eyewitness testimony, videos and information, but they continued to call on the public for more.

On Monday, authorities in Camden County, Ga., arrested 18-year-old Fisher Watts for first-degree murder in connection to a shooting just after midnight on May 25 that killed Koty Edward Stewart of Jacksonville.

FDLE has not yet made arrests related to the shooting the next night that left Mandujano dead and injured two others.

According to a GoFundMe page set up for Mandujano’s family, he died on Tuesday.

“He was [an] innocent bystander and unfortunately had his life taken,” wrote Rodolfo Mandujano of Morriston. “Marco was a father, son, brother, and friend to many people.”

The page has generated $8,950 in donations in the first 18 hours.

One of many reasons to shut down Ginnie Springs. Everyone who is profiting off of Florida’s aquifer – the Wray family and Nestle – should be required to repair the damage they’ve done to our ecosystem. The public owns that water. Shut it down.

Decent people don’t go to Ginnie Springs.
