FHP arrests 2, continues investigation into Dixie County fatal hit-and-run

Two Cross City women were arrested on Thursday in connection with a fight at Charlie’s Bar that preceded a fatal hit-and-run in Dixie County on Feb. 25.

According to a Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) release, troopers arrested Natalie Futch and Chelsea Carter for battery of Ashlee Partain, 21.

The FHP investigation revealed that Partain, who had been at Charlie’s Bar in Old Town on the evening of Feb. 24, was involved in a fight around 11:52 p.m., where she was struck by Futch and Carter.

Partain then left the establishment and, while walking at the intersection of US Highway 19 and NE 446th Street in Old Town, was hit and killed around 12:50 a.m. on Feb. 25 by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene.

According to the FHP, there’s no indication that Futch or Carter was involved in the fatal hit-and-run crash.

The FHP investigation into the fatal hit-and-run remains active. Anyone with information is urged to contact the FHP at *347 or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 888‑277‑TIPS (8477). Anonymous tips are welcome.
